QPR..the blue hoops

As most are aware i am a football nut and an ardent supporter of Manchester United ever since i was possibly 8 years old .They won their first European Cup then amidst the sentiment of recovering 10 years earlier of the Munich air disaster.
My time though spent in England as a student in the late 70s and early 80s was not really a time of great pride for United followers. All because of the dominance of that club down the Lancashire road, Liverpool.
So any clubs then that can give Liverpool a decent fight i would give my moral support.
One such club was Queens Park Rangers(QPR).
The men in blue hoops then were not only a good team but was also a joy to watch with their pool of talented players.
Notable among them was the former England Captain, Gerry Francis, Rodney Marsh,Don Givens ,Phil Parkes(the goalie) but the best among the lot to me was none other than Stan Bowles.
He was to an extent the Gascoigne of that era, an enigmatic player to the core.
So when i was in London last September and with a bit of time to spare i tried to look up the club at Loftus Road. After a bit of ride on the tube exchanging buses and a long walk i managed to locate the club.
Pity though that time the ground was not open to the public so obligingly i just went to their souvenir shop.
I can still feel the place , a ground where in one season in the 70s , QPR gave Liverpool a run for their money with scintillating football .
Nowadays people tend to support the more renown London clubs..Chelsea,Arsenal, West Ham, or Fulham but to me QPR takes the cake.
Stan Bowles still remain my all time favourite non United player.
Live it up Stan and we will sing a song to your name and tune!!!
