Tons(or rather Toons) of despair

The final weekend of the season finally came, somehow missed all the live action because at the retreat that i was staying over the weekend,Astro football was not on offer.

Nonetheless it never miss as always its moments of tension, exhilaration and despair .
This time round though the attention at not on who shall win the English Premier league but rather who shall be condemned(is that the right word to say/) and relegated to the Coca Cola league next season.

As i watched the repeat highlight show of this final week end of the season, one image stood out and this reminisce the feelings of a real true fan.

Ya, an image of one of the black and white jersey clad fan, one of many from the Toon army(that's how they were referred to!) of Newcastle football club.

This fan as i saw was weeping incessantly as he witnessed his beloved Geordie club relegated after 16 years in the top league.
The Toon army was in total despair as they possibly trooped back to the North east from the Midlands after Aston Villa beat Newcastle 1-0.

Make no mistake, Newcastle is a big club deserving of a top 5 finish in any season, they had a big legion of fans and the loyalty they have for their club knew no bounds. So ironic and unfair that the manager in charge of the club on this relegation weekend is another Geordie legend ,Alan Shearer. He is the icon of the Toon army and am sure they will forgive him for this travesty.

The only certain fact i can say for Newcastle next season is that the Toon Army Will still be in droves watching them at St James Park, they will not and never abandon their beloved club that is for sure.

Good luck Newcastle and i hope that you will bounce back to the top flight because the Premier league needs you!!! To the Toon army, never despair i am very confident that the Magpies will be back, stronger and wiser and i hope Shearer is at the helm.
