Malaysian football..the great Malaise

I was thrown into Malaysian football last season by accident when midway of the season i have to grapple with a "bail out agenda' to salvage Sarawak football senior team.

My brief sojourn gave me a bit of insight what ails our No1 sport.
Is it due to lack of public interest?
Is it due to poor FAM and affiliates management?
Is it due to lack of infrastructure and Government support?

Many have offered their views and many have taken the one dimensional view of blaming the players for their lack of dedication, team spirit and technical competence.

I believe in one mantra: Anything will only excel if we allow market forces and rewarding the survival of the fittest to prosper.
It may sound brutal but we can certainly learn some pointers from an evolutionary view of the situation and things that held back the football progress.

FAM and the Government role is only to provide the strong "institutional" roots from which any teams can flourish through its survival of the fittest and market driven approach.

What i mean by strong institutional roots are for example comprehensive football academy programmes throughout all States, an active and flourishing local leagues and a very strict, disciplined FA body that oversees football affairs such as refereeing, discipline matters and technical consultancies.

From such strong institutional roots then a national league only for the best managed teams and run on very professional grounds with market driven business acumen will certainly emerge.

This entails brutality and no nonsense actions against affiliates that are already bankrupt(in a business sense). If it means only 10 teams participating so be it because you know why?
The push factors from the ground level as strongly supported by the institutional roots(football academy, grass roots football, competent FA) will ensure the apex of the whole process IE the National league will be served well.

I though doubt this will happen in Malaysian football because the most important voices in the whole scheme was never heard ie the footballers views. I am sure they have some good advice to give, some honest feedback to offer because after all the success of football is the success of their livelihood.
As any students of evolution will tell you the species under threat will somehow generate the best survival instincts and feedback and in this perspective, the species in question is definitely the footballers themselves.
Hmmm...hope i don't sound too controversial!!!
